QUILT BLOCK MANIA - FLOWER POWER

The flowers are trying to peak their heads through the snow at my house. What better way to usher in spring than with a little FLOWER POWER.

I actually sewed three of these blocks together to get this cute wall hanging.

There are a couple of easy tricks with this pattern.

The first is actually a little trick. I wanted a almost solid cream background, but didn't have one. I had a grunge type fabric, so I just turned it over and used the wrong side as the right side. You can use this trick with lots of fabrics. It kind of gives you a two for one.

The next trick is used in creating the petals of the flowers. I use a STITCH AND FLIP method. Rather than using templates, I use a rectangle and a square.

For this Block, I lay it all out before I start sewing to that I make sure to sew those DIAGONAL LINES in the right directions. It makes it really easy. If you look close, you can see the diagonal lines drawn on the cream squares.
