OATMEAL COOKIES TWO WAYS
Who doesn't love oatmeal cookies. Don't tell, but I love the dough almost as much as the cookies.
There are two recipes, the first in the cookie I have made for years. My daughter loves it with butterscotch chips. I love them with mini semi-sweet chocolate chips, and my husband loves them with dates and pecans. I think they might be one of the most versatile cookies around, even for breakfast, they are oatmeal after all.
Lately, I try to take my cookies to a different lever. For this recipe, I switch out Browned Butter for the shortening and Dark Brown Sugar for the regular brown sugar. It gives the cookie a really rich flavor. I add cinnamon, and depending on what other goodies, I might even add a little cayenne pepper.
The best part is you get to make them your way.
